From Loss to Blessing

Jim and Jennifer were both adopted as infants and raised as only children. They married in September 1997 and have two beautiful children.

In early August of 2004, their hearts felt burdened by the orphaned children around the world. Before marrying, they had discussed someday bringing their lives full circle by adopting. Working with All God's Children International (www.agci.org), on August 27th they committed to adopting from China.

Their process moved very quickly and on 7 October they accepted the referral for a baby boy named Lu Sheng Dong.  Although he was diagnosed with a congenital heart disease, they felt the children's hospital in the area, as well as the support structure of family, friends and their church, was present for a reason.

They were anxious to bring him home and provide him with the medical attention he so urgently needed.  Unfortunately, five days after accepting him into their hearts, they received word he had passed away.  It was news they never expected.  Although they still grieve for this little boy, they know there is a greater plan.

Jim and Jennifer are focusing their energies on growing Sea of Faces.  What a great gift to be able to help other families on their journey of adoption and bring children out of desperate situations.  Their source of strength and endurance comes from Galatians 6:9-10, which says:

"So don't get tired of doing what is good.  Don't get discouraged and give up, for we will reap a harvest of blessing at the appropriate time.  Whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone, especially our Christian brothers and sisters."

Please join Jim and Jennifer on their journey, because every child deserves a home.
